Position Overview

The Director of Construction ensures the on-time and on-budget completion of assigned construction and new development projects by managing all activities related to the planning, building, budgeting/financial, safety and code compliance. This person will possess the necessary skill set to oversee the construction management team consisting of 2 Project Engineers, 3 Superintendents of varying skill and over 25 Foreman/Craftsmen/Laborers. This position will report directly to the CEO/Head of Construction and Development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

·       Regular project and construction reporting to the CEO

·       High level project budget creation and management

·       Schedule creation and management

·       Bid creation and evaluation as a GC and subcontractor

·       Management of all construction staff

·       Annual staff reviews

·       Technical review of submittals to solve complex problems

·       Contract creation and review working as GC and subcontractor for external projects

·       Review outside vendor and subcontractor contracts for internal projects

·       Conflict management

·       Self-performing construction experience

·       Work closely with the Head of Construction and Development daily


  • 10+ years of residential and midrise multi-family experience 50+ units

  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and communicate effectively to develop, comprehend, and complete legal, financial, construction-related, and human resources documents and to provide updates and reports to owners and key business leaders

  • Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and database management programs in order to complete required reports and employment documents

  • Experience in utilizing builder software, On-screen Take-offs, scheduling and other Company software applications related to budgeting and overall project management

  • Demonstrated mathematical skills necessary to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers, decimals, and fractions, and calculate percentages in order to complete financial records, budgets, and other fiscal reporting information.

  • Demonstrated management and supervisory skills sufficient to lead, direct, evaluate, and mentor subordinate and peer employee staff

  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the development and new construction business from both a technical standpoint, and from a project management standpoint

  • Broad technical understanding of all types of construction including podium style

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and maintain a drug-free lifestyle

  • Valid driver’s license
